Pune police officials had their hands full, as they were busy filing assault cases Monday night and early Tuesday morning all within a time span of three hours.

Pune police officials had their hands full, as they were busy filing assault cases Monday night and early Tuesday morning all within a time span of three hours.


Shannappa Kamble was beaten up by six miscreants with axes and stones.

The authorities filed 10 cases of assaults in which 14 persons, including 2 women, were injured.
A senior doctor from Sassoon Hospital said, "We are treating the injured on priority.

They were rushed in between 9.30 pm and 12.30 am in the OPD. The injured are mostly from the slum areas and their age group is ranging between 23 and 80 years."

According to police records, the injured areu00a0Balasaheb Katake (53), Bahumal Chaudhari,(26), Kamgar Putala, Tanveer Shaikh (45), Sakharam Gaikwad (55),u00a0 Ramesh Gaikwad (48), Khhandu Gaikwad (45), Suhas Kharat (37), his wife Sangeeta Kharat (34), Mohsin Shaikh (23), Sameera Shaikh (30), Javed Khan (25) and Mohammad Shaikh (80), Maruti Kamble (33), and his father Shannappa Kamble (63).

Kamble said six miscreants beat up his father by breaking into their house and hitting them with axes and stones over previous enmity.

Meanwhile, city roads wore a deserted look. Constable Sachine Chavan on night duty said, "People might be worried about the news that two terrorists are in Mumbai."

There was less crowd at Shrimant Dagdusheth Ganpati Mandal, situated off Laxmi road. Hemant Rasne, chairman, of Suvarna Sahakar Banku00a0 agreed that the enthusiasm from the citizens was low this year.
