As a newcomer, that too from a televsion background, the biggest challenge for any actor is to break away from his or her TV image. Migrating from a small screen to a big screen is a big task and making the right impression becomes a priority for the actor.

It is a steep climb to get accepted by the film industry, critics and audience. So far, I have been really fortunate that the critics were kind to me. I also have got innumerable appreciation calls from fans and industry people alike.
Anticipation is the key factor in the transition from a small screen to a big screen. While in television you shoot and see the results the very next day, in films, you shoot and wait for at least six months to see the final print! You need a lot of patience. I've learnt that nothing in the film industry happens overnight.
You have to prove to everyone, including yourself, that the decision you made was right. Like the decision I made of doing an offbeat film over a romantic big budget film. I've made an entry in films with a lead character with a lot of negative shades. After all, you have to prove to people who say, 'TVwale filmo mein nahi chalte'.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that as a newcomer you have to make the right moves. But while making those right moves, you need to take measures to make sure that your career doesn't come to a standstill. Making the right decisions at the right time is very important.
