In a bizarre case of kidnapping and robbery, a 20-year-old was allegedly robbed by his friend and then made to sign on stamp papers admitting the victim has bought a cell phone and a country revolver from the accused.u00a0

According to police sources, the incident took place on December 20 around 6 pm. Siddhant Kiran Desai, a student, had just reached MIT College's rear gate when Nikhil Khomane intercepted his motorcycle.u00a0

Khomane, who was also bike-borne, got down from his two-wheeler and allegedly thrashed Desai and sat pillion asking him to ride to to Kothrud Gaothan near a barber's shop.u00a0As the accused reached his destination, he allegedly threatened Desai with a knife to accompany him to a stamp paper vendor nearby.u00a0

After procuring two stamp papers of Rs 100 denomination each, Desai was then asked to write an admission saying that he had purchased a cell phone and a country made revolver from the Khomane.u00a0Desai's thumb impression and signatures was also taken on both the papers allegedly under duress by Khomane. The accused finally let Desai go threatening him of dire consequences if he told anyone about the incident.

According to the police, the accused also made away with the victim's cell phone and bike (MH-12-GH-1322) worth Rs 55,000 leaving Desai stranded at the spot.u00a0Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Ghodke said that they were investigating the incident and would nab the accused soon. "We have registered a case of robbery and kidnapping against the accused", he added.
