A 26-year-old youth was murdered by his friend late on Saturday night.
The deceased, identified as Jitendra Bhimrao Gaikwad, (26) was a resident of Laxminagar, Yerawada, and was stabbed by Vishal alias Lailya Ravindra Dadar (19). According to the police, Lailya had given Rs 20,000 to Gaikwad a few months ago. “Lailya and Jitendra had begun having arguments a few days ago.
Late on Saturday night, Jitendra was near his residence when Lailya and his friend Vishal Ganesh Kasabe stopped and stabbed him,” said Madhukar Salunkhe, assistant police inspector of Yerawada police station. The complaint was lodged by Rajendra Bhimrao Gaikwad (30), Jitendra’s brother.

“After Jitendra was attacked, he escaped from the spot and reached the main road. Some people took him to the Sassoon Hospital where he was declared dead,” Salunkhe added. The police arrested Vishal Ganesh Kasabe and Vishal alias Lailya Ravindra Dadar late yesterday evening. Both will be produced before court this morning.
