Fright in the night

While the concept of Halloween has been borrowed from the West, globalisation has ensured it’s a part of our annual social calendar as well. The festival is inspired by the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain and the gap between good and evil is supposed to be at its least on the occasion.

To mark the occasion, people make lamps out of pumpkins which are known as Jack-o-lanterns, light bonfires and go trick or treating dressed up as horror characters.u00a0Pune is also set to host Halloween-based events across the city. At Hard Rock Café, there will be special Halloween Day drinks like Killers, Draculas Bite, Witches Heart and Poison Punch served at the party. The creepiest dressed person can win a treat as well.

Eateries across the city have gone spooky to celebrate Halloween

Swarnendu Roy, General Manager, Hard Rock Café, Pune says “The Halloween bash is one of Hard Rock Café’s events which is celebrated worldwide. Patrons will be dressed up in Halloween costumes and the décor will be eerie. Guests will experience a bewitching party and see spooky things happen all around them. People are encouraged to don their scariest garb and they can even enjoy a special act by the HRC Rockers on Michael Jackson’s Thriller.”

The Marriott Hotel and Convention Center is also hosting a Halloween-inspired special cocktail party and DJ music night at MI-A-MI.

“Mi-A-Mi is one of the most popular destinations for youngsters in the city. The Halloween theme party has never been done before at Mi-A-Mi and we plan to introduce it with two popular in-house DJs — DJ Lokesh and DJ Pranav. We will also have special costumes, and scary effects for the night party at Mi A Mi,” said Nitin Goswami, Director of restaurants at Pune Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre.

City eatery Out of the Blue is also bringing the monstrous Halloween night with carved pumpkins, singing crows and special Halloween drinks. Nipun Paul, Marketing Head, Out of the Blue says, “We are having a special evening where the restaurant will be decorated for the occasion and there will be special cocktails like Sweet Devil R.I.P. The purpose of hosting this evening is for people to come together and have a fun-filled night.”
