Frisk SRK again, please!

So what's wrong with frisking VIPs at an airport, given the fact that it's brothers from the beau monde who have a robust history of unwanted anti-social and destructive acts?

When dignitaries like former defence minister George Fernandes and union ministers Pranab Mukherjee and Ambika Soni weren't spared, why must a film actor raise such a hue and cry over what is also suspected by many to be a blatant publicity gimmick?

Leave alone Shah Rukh Khan, who knows a George or a Pranab outside India? Are they so important that other countries must let them pass without a physical check? Is the security of a nation more important or the status of a traveller? Ex-prez Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's calm response to what he was subjected to, even if within the country, says much.

Names are not important, but a quick flashback makes it clear that Bollywood isn't the most clean, clear and trusted lot in the world, rather, no entertainment or political institution is. Illegal arms possession, rape, drugs, underworld nexus and illegal immigration Bollywood has been there, done that. Then why such a clamour? I firmly believe there is nothing wrong if people like Sanjay Dutt, Daler Mehndi, Fardeen Khan and Shiney Ahuja are checked and rechecked as many times as international authorities like.

Coming to the great Indian political corridors, it least deserves to be even considered for anything that in the rarest sense has something to do with trust. If infamous politicians like Sahabuddin, Padamsinh Patil, Taslimmuddin, Pappu Yadav, Suraj Bhan Singh, Atiq Ahmed, Raja Bhaiya and Anand Mohan Singh can enter, survive and excel in the Indian democracy, on what basis must we vouch for the honesty of our leaders?

Here, the fact that our country has paid a heavy price for adopting a lenient policy towards foreign diplomats can't be ignored. According to several Intelligence Bureau (IB) reports, many international delegates and politicians who aren't frisked at the airport smuggle in fake currencies and prohibited drugs.

Why hasn't there been a single major terrorist attack in the US after 9/11? Have the critics of Shah Rukh Khan's ordeal ever pondered about the success of the US security and the failure of its Indian counterpart? Why isn't there a single day in our country when innocent citizens and brave soldiers go without a terrorist encounter?
So where lies the solution? In the lesson of safety, and not taking everything as a blow to the ego. Also in the wisdom of not linking everything to religion.

Let's take this opportunity to cooperate with the security agencies at every level and venue-airports, railway stations, historical monuments, cinema halls and other public places. And let's utilise our ego in pushing India to the economical, social and political levels of the US instead. This war of words will lead us to no where. Think why a Britisher is not checked the way Indians are. In this lies the end of the entire debate.
