It took five minutes and 45 seconds for TV umpire Rod Tucker to adjudge India captain Virat Kohli out caught behind in yesterday's opening day of the first Test here. As decision flashed on the large digital screen at the ground a calm but unsatisfied Kohli asked ground umpire Bruce Oxenford: "What happened! What (Tucker) has given?"

"It's an edge," responded Oxenford and Kohli walked away quietly with three against his name.

However, the TV replay was inconclusive as the voice tracker ultra edge failed to detect any sound. It was massive and noisy appeal for caught behind by the entire fielding side but Oxenford was unmoved. The Sri Lankans then used their first DRS of the match.

Incidentally, the Indian captain's last innings at Galle in 2015 also ended with three while India were chasing 176 for victory, but were bundled out for 112.
Kohli appeared confident of not being declared out and was busy in a conversation with his partner Cheteshwar Pujara.

Since his Test debut in 2011, this was the 24th time that Kohli returned to the dressing room with a scoring under 10 runs. His last innings – the in Ranchi Test against Australia last March - yielded only six runs.
