They had just witnessed some fatafat cricket and were in a hurry to reach home. However, negotiating spin and seam becomes an altogether different game when the scene is a city road instead of a cricket pitch.

Harshit Yadav, 13, had been among thousands of spectators at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground who witnessed Sachin Tendulkar decimate Virender Sehwag in the latter's own backyard. His team might have lost but young Harshit was pretty excited when Sachin continued his remarkable form and gave Delhiites something to cheer about even though their team lost the match.
The adrenaline rush was carried on to the road from the high-voltage game and young Harshit could not duck death when an overspeeding Lancer car hit the Wagon R, in which the kid was traveling, when it was crossing Rajpath around 1.30 am.
Harshit, a student of class VIIIth, was a resident of Rohini Sector 18. His father Lal Sri Kant and two brothers were in the car, when it met with the accident. Harshit's brother, Deepanshu, was driving the car and the impact of the hit was such that their car toppled thrice before coming to rest.
Airbags saved Sourabh Jain, driver of the Lancer car. The police has registered a case under Sections 279/304 A (causing death due to rash and negligent driving) at the Parliament Street Police Station against Jain.
The injured were rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The police is awaiting a medical examination to ascertain whether Jain was under the influence of alcohol.
