With a total prize amount of '8 lakh, an upcoming FIFA tournament in Mumbai is part of a three-month long gaming championship that will cover Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Kochi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Chandigarh. With 20 offline and four online qualifiers, the top two winners from each tournament will receive a cash prize and a spot in the grand finale with 48 people, which will be held in New Delhi come December. Launched by GamingMonk, an e-sport portal that runs gaming championships across the country, the tournament allows participants to play solo or in pairs and compete against seasoned players.

Launched in 2014 by Ashwin Harwani, co-founder, GamingMonk started off as an e-commerce website that sold video games and accessories. "We soon found ourselves out of business because of sites like Amazon and Flipkart. We needed to do more, and hence, decided to branch out as an e-sport company. We get roughly 500 participants for every tournament," Harwani says about the idea.

With quick face-offs, different opponents and a cash prize at each level, this is a FIFA festival not to be missed.
