The Hollywood actor and AIDS activist will play a cameo in Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Teen Patti

Amitabh Bachchan will share screen space with Richard Gere in Teen Patti. The Hollywood actor is slated to do a cameo in the film directed by Leena Yadav and produced by Ambika Hinduja.

Says a unit source, "The makers wanted an international name for the cameo. Though other names were also in consideration, they decided on the Pretty Woman actor who is well known to the Indian audience not only as a Hollywood star but also as an AIDS activist who frequently travels to India."

Sharing screen space

Interestingly, Bachchan will share screen space with a Hollywood staru00a0 a la several other B-Town stars.

A spokesperson for Serendipity Films (the producers) maintains, "This is news to us."

Adds the source, "Things are being kept under wraps as they want to make an announcement later."

Replacement actor

It is learnt that Pierce Brosnan was to do a cameo but opted out. As a result, Gere was roped in.

The actor-activist is a regular visitor to Mumbai, courtesy good friend Parmeshwar Godrej and his own Aids awareness causes.

Two years ago, he landed himself in a huge controversy after kissing Shilpa Shetty at an Aids awareness rally near New Delhi.

Teen Patti has Bachchan play a professor who tutors five of his brightest students in high-stake gambling with a cause.

The cast includes Madhavan and newbies Siddharth Kher, Dhruv Ganesh, Vaibhav Talwar and Shraddha Kapoor (daughter of Shakti Kapoor).
