Get ready for more rain

Bangalore had an unexpected heavy thundershower yesterday evening causing traffic jams in parts of city and water logging in many parts of the city.

The weather in Bangalore and neighbouring areas is expected to be cloudy with few spells of rain for the next 48 hours because of the depression in East-Central Bay of Bengal.

Two trees were uprooted in Jayanagar East and ninth block, though, BBMP's Prahari team reached the spot and cleared it immediately.

According to the Meteorological department, the low pressure area over East-Central Bay of Bengal and neighbouring areas intensified into a depression at 11.30 am on October 13, and has moved West-Northwesterly direction and lay centered at 8.30 am yesterday over East-Central and adjoining parts, North-West and West-Central Bay of Bengal, which is about 550 km East of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and 430 km south-East of Gopalpuu00a0r in Orissa.

The department added that the system would intensify further into a deep depression and move in West-Northwesterly direction, crossing the Orissa coast between Gopalpur and Paradeep by today evening.

As per the forecast, rain/thundershowers would occur at various places in the state until tomorrow morning and heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places.
