Ryan Giggs yesterday hailed Team GB’s young stars despite suffering an Olympic penalty shootout heartbreak in the quarter-final at the hands of South Korea in Cardiff. After a goalless 120 minutes, Ki Sung-Yeung sent the visitors into the last four after Daniel Sturridge saw his spot kick saved.
Giggs said: “It’s disappointing (to exit) but it was a pleasure to play with so many talented young players. There’s a lot of talent in that dressing room. Hopefully they can take it back to their clubs and have good seasons.”
