That's what the cops told family of a victim who died in suspicious circumstances when they approached them for the postmortem report
It appears that the DGP's instructions to investigators about updating victims' families about investigations have gone on deaf ears. Recently, DGP Ajay Kumar Singh had ordered officers to deep the families in loop to bring transparency in investigations.

Take the case of the mysterious death of 28 year-old Ganesh at Anekal police limits. On October 30, Ganesh, who wanted to be a fashion designer, and worked at a tailoring shop, was found dead on the shop's terrace. His body had injuries on the neck, and mouth.
But the shop owner told the police that Ganesh had consumed poison. Following this, the police recorded his death as natural. It was only after two days that Ganesh's family members registered a police complaint, alleging that the death was not natural.
The police had already done a postmortem, and had assured the family that they will be provided with a copy of the report within a week. But two days later, they changed the track and told them that the report will only be available after three months.
Now even after repeated pleas from the family, the Anekal police are now even refusing to meet them. According to a family member, their usual reply is, " What will you do with the report? Go and get on with your lives."
When this reporter talked to Venkatesh, circle inspector, Anekal police station, claim to know nothing of the case. Instead of giving details, heu00a0 said, "I don't know what happened and when. Please ask in the station to get details. The report will only be available in 15 days. But I will ask what actually happened." Anekal police station staff didn't take our calls after repeated attempts.
Jealousy lover?
Ganesh, an aspiring fashion designer, came to the city from Kunigal, Hasan after his studies. He finished a tailoring course, and joined work in a tailoring shop. There, he met Nagaratna, and fell in love with her. They got married in 2006.
Family members allege that this could be one of the reasons behind his death, because some employees were not happy with their marriage. Though, the shop owner denied any such possibility. Now Nagaratna is under shock and in a hospital, and doctors say that she is in a critical condition.
Poojamma, Ganesh's mother said, "We know that he was murdered but the police are not being helpful at all. They keep refusing to give us any details about the investigation. We have lost confidence that we will get any justice."
