The Dutch seem to have taken over proceedings on the console at this year’s edition of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival, Sunburn what with Sander Van Doorn, W&W and Fedde Le Grand being the top spinners, apart from Paul Van Dyk. Currently ranked No 26, Fedde Le Grand is one of the big European names to play in the country this year. Famous for his hit track, Put Your Hands Up For Detroit, the DJ whose music is a mix of Electro, Techno and Progressive House tells us what to expect from his gig in Goa.
What do we expect from your set at Sunburn this month?
You can definitely look forward to new tracks that I’ve been working on, which I’ll be road-testing at Sunburn, as well as a couple of remix surprises; some very special edits that I’ve made purely for my sets and of course the biggest tracks that I have in my CD case right now.
Tell us a bit about what you are currently working on?
I’m working towards a second artist album, which is shaping up nicely, as well as a couple of collaborations that will be out this New Year. I also have a brand new track called RAW that will be released on December 24, Christmas Eve, so I hope it makes a perfect Christmas present for everyone. This apart, I’m planning a few major tours for the first half of next year with loads of exciting stuff lined up for the road.
EDM has become a chart-topping genre today — your take on it. Also, who is your favourite artiste today?
The fact that US pop stars have finally embraced dance music has brought about a huge change in EDM. For better or for worse, I don’t have one particular favourite artist. The scene has produced some shameful tracks, and some absolutely amazing ones. I love that EDM reaches a lot more people nowadays, thanks to the cross with Pop music. I’m thankful for the tracks that manage to unite the best of both worlds.
