Go green for Ganesha

Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner and preparations are on in full swing. The ten-day long festival is celebrated with devotion across the city.

Selecting the perfect idol of Ganesha is one of the main tasks during the weeks preceding the event. This year, we suggest you skip the plaster-of-paris idols and instead design your own idols. Art2day Gallery has organised a special workshop which will guide you to make eco-friendly Ganesha idols.

The workshop is an attempt to save the water sources from being polluted and ensure the safety of the environment.u00a0Talking about the green workshop, artist Dilip Thakkar who will be hosting the event, says, “Thousands of Ganesha idols are immersed in the water every year.

Considering the amount of water pollution they cause, it is important to go for eco-friendly statues which are not very difficult to make. In this two-day workshop, we will be having two sessions (two-hour each) for the participants. The first day’s session will teach them how to make small statues of Lord Ganesha using ‘shadu clay’ and on the second day, we will guide them on how to paint the idols using pastel colours.” People from any age group can participate in the workshops.
