Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today sought a detailed report from police in connection with a drunken driving incident wherein a woman executive allegedly knocked down two persons with her car on Sunday.

"This is a serious case. I have asked police to give me a detailed report. Don't take it casually. Drunken driving should be taken seriously," Parrikar told the Legislative Assembly.

Shobhika Gaur (30), working with a reputed group which runs the chain of hospitals, was booked by city police for allegedly driving her car in the no-entry zone on the city's busy D B Bandodkar Road in an inebriated condition and ramming her vehicle into a bike, police had said.

One of the bike-borne youths is currently battling for his life in a state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital. Gaur was arrested yesterday and later released on bail.

When contacted, a spokesman for the hospital group, where Gaur is posted at, said the authorities have initiated an inquiry. "We will completely abide by the legal processes and will take a call on the employee once legal formalities are closed to the satisfaction of governing authorities," the spokesman said in a media statement issued here today.
