The teams were locked goalless in regulation time. In the shootout, Chawan and Aditya Dhotre scored for Lawrence while Ryan D'Souza and Elton Quadros were on target for D'Assisi. Even after the tie-breaker, the match was tied 2-2 and it had to be decided via the sudden death where Mitesh Raja scored for Lawrence while Vineet Venugopal of D'Assisi missed the target.

"I hurt my back during a regular practice session. I did have slight pain before the match, but I had no clue that it would aggravate so badly later on. During the break, my teammates told me that it was okay if we lost the final. But those words motivated me to give my best," said the 15-year-old junior India goalkeeper.
