Gold chains worth Rs 1.75 lakh snatched in 3 separate incidents

In the past two days, three separate chain-snatching incidents came to light in Pune.

Gold chains worth Rs 1.75 lakh were swiped by youths on motorbikes from Sahakarnagar, Chinchwad and Wanwadi. The first incident took place in Sahakarnagar at 11 pm on Friday, when one Radhika Birla (27), a resident of Dhankawadi, was standing near her car at K K Market. Two unidentified youths on a bike came towards her, snatched her gold chain worth Rs 20,000 and fled from the spot. A case has been registered at Sahakarnagar police station.



The second episode took place at Samarth Colony in Chinchwad on Saturday around 11 am, when two unidentified youths wearing helmets came on a motorcycle and pinched a gold chain worth Rs 1.5 lakh off one Kanchan Patil (28), a resident of Vinayak Nagar. “The incident took place when Patil was walking home,” said Sanjay Kawade, inspector, Chinchwad Police Station.


In the third instance at 11.30 am on Saturday, one Jyoti Sonawane (35), a housewife, was walking with her brother and mother near Jambhulkar Garden in Wanwadi. Two unknown people riding a bike approached them and the pillion rider took away her gold chain worth Rs 52,000. A case has been registered in Wanwadi police station. All the cases have been lodged under section 392 (punishment for robbery) and further investigations are underway. u00a0
