Yogesh Kanchan from State Bank of India, who led the Maharashtra State Masters Athletic men's team, won the gold medal in the high jump event at the 34th National Masters Athletic Championship, which was held at Bangalore recently.
He has been selected to represent India in the World Masters Athletic Championship to be held in Porto Alegre, Brazil between October 16-27 .
In the other events, Purushotham Ali (65+ category) won the gold in the discuss throw and silver in shot put.u00a0Eknath Patil, won the gold medal in the steeple chase event.
In the women’s competition, Vimala A Rege (90+ category) won gold in the shot put event and the 400 metres race. Meanwhile, Surekha Bhadale (40+ category) finished third in the five-kilometres walk.u00a0
