Golden moments from the Oscars

When superpowers meet
Daniel Day-Lewis made history on Sunday night as he became the first actor in history to win three Oscars for Best Actor. The star took home the prize for playing the title role of Abraham Lincoln in the biopic Lincoln — making it the third time he has taken home the prestigious award. And who better to present the award to the actor than Meryl Streep,u00a0who is the only actress to have won the award thrice herself. u00a0

Ang Lee’s namaste
It was a big moment for Ang Lee when he won the best director Oscar for Life of Pi, but it was a bigger moment for his Indian fans when he ended his acceptance speech with Namaste.

During his acceptance speech, Lee thanked his producers, Indian crew, Suraj and technicians who worked on the movie. “Suraj, where are you,” he asked, and cameras focused on Sharma, who made his debut with the film.

Anne’s fashion miss
While Anne Hathaway won the award for her moving performance as Fantine in Les Miserables, she wasn’t too successful when it came to fashion. Dressed in a pastel pink Prada gown, the star made Twitter buzzing with the flash of her side boob and poorly constructed dress. The only saving grace: her beautiful neckpiece from Tiffany’s.

Oscar is a trip for Jennifer Lawrence
The night belonged to Jennifer Lawrence, who picked up the Best Actress award for Silver Linings Playbook. Winning the Oscar for Best Actress was beyond doubt Jennifer Lawrence’s biggest moment. But she will remember this day not just for winning the award. Jennifer was left flustered after tripping up the steps on her way to accept her awards. As she staggered to her feet the audience leapt up to give the actress a standing ovation, much to her embarrassment. “You are standing up because you’re feeling bad that I fell, and that’s embarrassing,” said the 22-year-old.
