Mumbai: Barely five-feet tall, 9-year-old Nayanika Sanga was the star of the recently-concluded Bombay Ladies Golf Open Week at the Willingdon Sports golf course where she finished as the runner-up.
In this knockout event, young Nayanika, who started playing golf at the age of five at the Wellington Course in Conoor, saw off veterans on the Willindon course, which is a relatively short and difficult course with a number of sand traps, water hazards and narrow fairways.
The Class IV Naval Public School student was awarded the most promising golfer of the year trophy by the then Indian Golf Union President Gen Bikram Singh in 2012.
