Celebrate Onam with a traditional Naadan Saddhya or a vegetarian meal served on a banana leaf along with non-vegetarian options. Chef Sneha Nair, who runs the home catering service Poppaddum, will curate it. It will be hosted at home decor store Dhoop.

The session is part of The Secret Ingredient — the latest initiative by food pop-up company Small Fry Co. that brings together culinary efforts of home caterers.

Speaking about the idea, Insia Lacewalla, founder, Small Fry Co., says, “My partner Paresh Chhabria and I have been curating food pop-ups to bring together home-based, chefs, caterers and bakers. The idea behind this is to make such food accessible to all kinds of people and keep traditional recipes alive.

The meals will be hosted at places that are not known for their food.”

The first edition will include a traditional Keralite Naadan Saddhya featuring dishes such as Pineapple Pachadi, Avial, Kaalan, Kootcurry, Cabbage Thoran and Olan as well as Sambar and Pineapple Rasam. For dessert, there will be Ada Payasam. The non-vegetarian items will include Chicken Fry Kerala Style and Malabar Mutton Curry.

The next session will be held on September 28 and will be an Assamese spread by Gitika’s Pakghor. It will be followed by the Eid special session on October 5 where they will host a traditional Dawoodi Bohra meal on ‘thaals’ (a massive thali that can seat eight people around it). “Venues for both these will be locked by later this week. We also have four other chefs in line to host more meals until December-end,” elaborates Lacewalla.
