Athens: Greece coach Fernando Santos on Wednesday announced his provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil, minus injured Olympiakos defender Dimitris Siovas.


However, 29-year-old Levante defender Nikos Karabelas and 22-year-old Panathinaikos striker Nikos Karelis were both included for the first time.


Portuguese coach Santos has said that he will announce his final 23-man squad on May 19 and from the 30 he is expected to cut one goalkeeper, two or three defenders, one or two midfielders and one or two forwards.


Greece provisional squad

Goalkeepers: Orestis Karnezis (Granada/ESP), Alexandros Tzorvas (Apollon), Panagiotis Glykos (PAOK), Stefanos Kapino (Panathinaikos)

Defenders: Avraam Papadopoulos, Kostas Manolas, Jose Holebas (all Olympiakos), Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Borussia Dortmund/GER), Vangelis Moras (Verona/ITA), Giorgos Tzavellas (PAOK), Loukas Vyntra, Nikos Karabelas (both Levante/ESP), Vasilis Torosidis (Roma/ITA)

Midfielders: Alexandros Tziolis (Kayserispor/TUR), Andreas Samaris, Giannis Maniatis (both Olympiakos), Kostas Katsouranis (PAOK), Giorgos Karagounis (Fulham/ENG), Panagiotis Tachtsidis (Torino/ITA), Giannis Fetfatzidis (Genoa/ITA), Kostas Fortounis (Kaiserslautern/GER), Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, Panagiotis Kone (both Bologna/ITA)

Forwards: Dimitris Papadopoulos (Atromitos), Nikos Karelis (Panathinaikos), Stefanos Athanasiadis, Dimitris Salpingidis (both PAOK), Giorgos Samaras (Celtic/SCO), Kostas Mitroglou (Fulham/ENG), Fanis Gekas (Konyaspor/TUR).
