A man called Chris left the heartwarming letter for a woman who had just moved into the building; included an offer to help her bleed the gas tank
Washington DC: A heartwarming welcome letter from one neighbour to a woman who’d just moved in next door has gone viral. In the note, which was posted on the website Reddit, the neighbour, known simply as ‘Chris’, provides helpful tips such as useful numbers and information about trash collection. But he also offers to help ‘bleed the tank’ in the winter to get the gas heating up and running.
Warm welcome: ‘We need more people like Chris in the world’, a reader wrote on the website, after reading the note
“When the winter comes and if you decide to use the gas heat let me know, I will help bleed the tank and get it up and running for you,” he writes in the note. According to Reddit, the appreciative newcomer posted the note on Facebook after finding it at her door.
The tenant also points out helpfully that there is only one outside water faucet that is on his side of the unit. “Feel free to use it,” he says. And he explains that he is deaf in one ear “so if I ever have the TV to (sic) loud text me and let me know to turn it down.”
Finally, Chris treats the new tenant to a free dinner. “I know getting settled can be crazy and time consuming, so dinner is on me,” Chris wrote in the letter, and included a gift card. “...So you can have an evening without having to worry about cooking. Happy house warming.”
