Atharva and Hammad's 138-run stand for the third wicket helped Al-Barkaat recover from early woes. Atharva picked the gaps well and punished the loose deliveries to the fence before he was caught at mid wicket by Tatsat Singh. His innings was laced with 15 fours. Hammad was bowled by Rohit Joshi soon after reaching his half-century.

Skipper on song
Skipper Harsh Mogaveera scored exact 50, while the in-form Dashrath Chavan contributed a valuable 60 off just 62 deliveries with eight boundaries. Off-spinner Abbas Karachiwala was the pick of the bowlers for Lilavati Podar with 3-88. In reply, the Santacruz outfit lost the wicket of Rohit for a duck as Lilavati Podar ended the day at 0-1 in six overs.

Devaadithyan scores 79
Meanwhile, at Police Gymkhana, a good batting performance from Devaadithyan SR (79) helped Rizvi Springfield reach 209-5 in 51 overs on Day One against Parle Tilak Vidyamandir English Medium (Vile Parle). Devaadithyan hit 13 fours in a match that was delayed due to a wet outfield. Left-arm spinner Tirth Trivedi grabbed 3-36 for the Vile Parle outfit.
