South African star cricketer Hashim Amla recently became the fastest batsman to reach 50 international centuries when he hit 154 - his 24th ODI hundred - against Sri Lanka.
Amla is one of only 7 cricketers to achieve this feat. In the process Hashim Amla has surpassed the likes of Ponting, Lara, Kallis Sangakkara and Jayawardene.
His 24th ODI ton came in his 142nd innings, which is 19 quicker than India's Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli had set the record to be the fastest to 5,000 and 6,000 ODI runs but Amla broke those records.
Hashim Amla is also on track to break Kohli's current record of the fastest to reach 7000 ODI runs. Kohli reached the landmark in 161 innings, while Amla has to score 220 runs in 18 innings to break the record.
