ATS announces Rs 10 lakh cash reward for information on any of these 13/7 and Pune serial blasts suspects

The state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) yesterday declared a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh per person on Yasin Bhatkal, Tahasheen Akhtar, Asadullah Akhtar and Waqas. All four are wanted for their alleged involvement in 2011 serial blasts in the city and 2012 serial blasts in Pune.

13/7 serial blasts ATS officials said around 27 people were killed and over 130 were injured in the three blasts that took place on July 13, 2011 near Kabutar Khana in Dadar (W), Zaveri Bazaar and Opera House. They, along with the officials of the Delhi special squad, had managed to arrest six people for their alleged involvement in the case.

During interrogation, the suspects revealed names of Mohammed Ahmed Mohammad Zarrar Siddhibappa alias Yasin Bhatkal alias Imran alias Shahrukh, Tahasheen Akhtar Wasim Akhtar Shaikh alias Monu alias Hasan, Asadullah Akthar Javed Akhtar alias Haddi alias Tabrez alias Shakir alias Danial and Waqas alias Ahmed.

ATS Chief Rakesh Maria said, “The interrogations of those arrested earlier, have revealed names of the four accused. Bhatkal is the Indian Mujahideen (IM) chief and we are making public their latest photos and our contact numbers so that anybody who sees them can communicate with us.” ATS officials said Yasin and Asadullah were also involved in bomb blasts that took place over the years in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.

2012 Pune blasts
Four low-intensity blasts on August 1, 2012, on Jangli Maharaj Road disrupted life in Pune city. These blasts occurred near Balgandharva Theatre, Dena Bank branch, McDonald’s outlet and Garware Bridge. The ATS said, in the Pune blasts case, they had arrested four accused and their interrogation had revealed the names of Yasin Bhatkal. In December 2011, Delhi police had also announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh for any information leading to Bhatkal’s arrest for his involvement in several terrorism-related cases, including three in Delhi.
