Thursday evening was an unusual and tumultuous one for cops at Pant Nagar police station. Rajshree Ramesh Kadam, wife of Gamdevi police station head constable Ramesh Kadam entered the Pant Nagar station house with her daughter Rohini, and friends Managala Banpatee and Sagar Banpatee. Rajshree then asked the duty officer to register an FIR against a builder and suburban collector for theft.

According to the police, Mangala’s house had come under the slum rehabilitation programme but she was opposing this. The builder went to court, which ordered the house to be demolished and accordingly the former requested the collector to carry out a panchnama and vacate the house. But Mangala was not willing to budge.

“Accordingly we removed all the belongings from the Laxmi Nagar house and carried out a panchnama of the things on September 4,” said an officer from Pant Nagar police station. “But Mangala came with Rajshree to the police station on Thursday and started demanding an FIR be registered against the collector and builder. We asked her to approach the court,” the officer added.

But cops say Rajshree was adamant and when the station house officer asked three female constables to ‘take care’ of her, she allegedly started thrashing the trio.

“The constables have received injuries to their heads, eyes and hands. They were discharged from hospital after receiving first aid. We have registered a case against Rajshree, Rohini, Mangala and Sagar and they were arrested under section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant while discharging his duties) of IPC, but were later granted bail,” said an officer.u00a0
