Closet poets, writers and painters seem to be getting increasingly locked into the closet with little time and space to explore their talent. To draw them out, they need a comfortable mess where they will not be bothered for a while, feels Akshay Lalchandani (below), founder of A Hidden Story, a venture that has organised the event The Artistic Mess. The event is aimed at providing the painters, poets and writers a space and uninterrupted time to be creative.

A Hidden Story was started by Lalchandani as an Instagram page in July this year. "I am a poet, and my mom is a painter. We both were confined to our houses when it came to painting or writing but we barely knew anyone else with the same passion. This made me realise that there are many other artists who would want to know people with similar interests. That's when I came up with the idea of building a community of artists. By artists I don’t just mean painters but poets, writers, photographers, tattoo artists and anyone who creates art," he says.

On the Instagram page, they repost pictures from other accounts and write a short story or a poem describing it. This, he says, is using art to describe art. The Artistic Mess is their first offline venture. "There will be a theme, which will be disclosed at the venue. It will be fascinating to see what comes out in the period and the creative exchange between artists," he says.
