Four members of the Republican Panthers of India, involved in ransacking professor Suhas Palshikar’s office at the University of Pune (UoP) on Saturday, have been sent to police custody till May 15.

The incident was sparked off by the appearance of a cartoon of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in school textbooks a day after Palshikar, who is also an NCERT advisor, resigned as the matter picked up steam.

The suspects entered Palshikar’s office on the first floor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan on the UoP campus, broke several windowpanes, two cupboards and other furniture and also flung blue color (indigo) powder all over the area.
