Here's what transpired at the Star Parivaar Awards 2016
The Star Parivaar Awards which was recently held in the city was packed with oodles of drama. We go backstage to give you a blow-by-blow account of the highs and lows of the glittering night:
Minutes before Divyanka Tripathi could go on stage for the opening act, her outfit got ruined. Luckily, she had an extra pair of clothes which she swiftly changed into and started the show without causing any delay.
Deepika Singh of Diya Aur Baati Hum apparently has been learning Odissi dance for about two years and on special request from fans, she decided to put her nimble feet to good use after having a word with the channel. They roped her in with Tridha Choudhury of Dahleez fame, who has been trained in the classical dance form as a child.
In a different space
Karan Patel of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein was given the early morning-mid afternoon call time but he turned up at the venue after the gala began. Then he insisted that his car be parked near his vanity van, else he would not go on stage. He made the production team wait for four hours before coming out of his van. After going on stage, the actor seemed to be on an ego trip, not letting anyone forget that he is a 'star' and hence, doesn't require to arrive on time. During his acceptance speech for the Best Jodi and International Jodi awards (with Divyanka), Karan claimed they don't even look at each other once the camera stops rolling. He also apparently told the channel head that he won't turn up for shoot the next day because he had been kept up late for the awards ceremony.

The '50s act
Among all acts, the most endearing one was performed by Alok Nath, Krutika Desai, Ketki Dave, Ashok Lokhande and Shilpa Shirodkar. Choreographed by Remo D'Souza and group, the act began with Alok Nath shaking a leg, but he didn't return to stage after the first song apparently since he couldn't keep up with the difficult steps like the others. Shilpa performed after a good 20 years. Lokhande had apparently cut his holiday short to be a part of the awards night where he could wear a superman costume and dance with fellow actors.
Rapper Badshah made a surprise entry at the end of the awards gala to announce the Most Stylish Award and crooned too. Arguably, Badshah's performance was the ultimate mood lifter in what was a five-six hour gala.
Unlike earlier years, Hina Khan of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai didn't bag any award. But she behaved like a sport and performed several acts during the evening with about four costume changes in between. However, in the end the actress got irritated with the organising committee and walked off in a huff.
While Badshah was getting ready in his vanity van for his act, cricketer Yuvraj Singh paid him a visit. The two were in the van for long. A source claims, "They were engaged in a long discussion for some performance, but we don't know if it was something in general or for his own impending wedding (with actress Hazel Keech)."
