Heritage enters the classroom... finally!

This will come as great news to the conscientious school teacher who cares about our city. INTACH has announced the setting up of a teacher training workshop for the formation of heritage clubs in Mumbai's schools.

Finally, school kids will get the chance to learn about the city and country's heritage that often gets lost in the dust of the few city libraries. The aim of the heritage club programme is to integrate heritage education in the school curricula.

The activities promise to stimulate children's interest in their local built, natural and living heritage and increase awareness towards heritage conservation.

Already, INTACH has a network of 1,200 participating schools, with 50,000 heritage club members in 61 cities across the city. To kickstart the Mumbai chapter, INTACH Mumbai has partnered with Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum.
