If you want to know more about the city and enlighten yourself about the different cuisines that Mumbai offers, you don’t have to do it all by yourself. Here’s your chance to explore the city through its culinary wonders with Food Tours of Mumbai,a newly-launched group that organises food tours across South Mumbai.

“In 2012, I took a food tour in Rome and thought it was a brilliant idea to showcase the city through its amazing food. So, combining my love for Mumbai and the enthusiasm to showcase the delicious food, gave rise to Food Tours of Mumbai,” says Mihir Govilkar, the founder of the venture.

Kerala Fish Curry from Fountain Plaza is on the menu as well

Currently, the tours are organised only for the Fort area. “During our walking tours, we not only eat delicious food but also look at the historical, artistic and cultural aspects of the city. The restaurants and the food items have been carefully selected by me to achieve a balance of flavours. We try more than seven different items on the tour,” informs the founder.

“In the first two tours that we conducted, the participants were all Mumbaikars, and they didn’t know almost 90% of what I was telling them. They hadn’t tried at least six of the seven sampling items that we served. So, the tour helped them learn more about the city they live in,” he explains.

The tours run every Monday to Saturday from 6.30 pm onwards. If there is a request for a private group tour, special toursat a different time can also be organised.
