Men thrash minnows Fiji 16-0, while women demolish Kazakhstan 8-0
Hat-tricks from Rani Rampal and Jaspreet Kaur guided India to a convincing 8-0 win over lower ranked Kazakhstan in the women’s Hockey World League Round 2 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here yesterday.

The India men’s team demolished minnows Fiji 16-0 in their Hockey World League Round 2 opener. V R Raghunath (4th minute, 11th, 41st) and Danish Mujtaba (28th, 38th, 59th) scored a hat-trick each, while Rupinder Pal Singh (5th, 35th) and Malak Singh (51st, 63rd) scored two goals each. Nithin Thimmaih (18th), Gurjinder Singh (21st), Kothajit Singh (46th), Manpreet Singh (50th), Chinglesana Singh (53rd) and Dharamvir Singh (55th) completed the tally.
For the India eves, Jaspreet opened the scoring for India in the eighth minute from a penalty corner and converted two more short-corners (21st & 55th mins).
She completed the scoreline for the hosts from a penalty strike at the hooter. Young forward Rani Rampal scored field goals in the 15th, 25th and 28th minutes. Soundarya Yendala struck once in the 54th min.
