Home stretch is Sahara Force India's best bet

One of the most improved teams on the grid, Sahara Force India started their debut season as backmarkers, who were struggling for pace. However, under Team Principalu00a0 Vijay Mallya, the team has shown an improved performance year on year.

The team failed to score a single championship point in their first season in F1 in 2008, prompting the management to drop their engine partnership with Ferrari and join Mclaren. The radical changes also saw a shuffle in the top management and the results were there for all to see. At the 2009 Belgian GP, the team clinched pole and finish second with Giancarlo Fisichella at the wheel. The Force India cars were known to be the fastest in the straights and it showed again when Adrian Sutil finished fourth in the 2009 Italian GP.

2010 saw Force India emerge as a consistent mid-field team and score 68 points to finish seventh in the Constructors Championship, just one point behind sixth-placed Williams. The team also registered three double-point finishes in 2010.

The current season has been Force India's strongest yet. They have finished races consistently and are currently sixth in the Constructors race. Among the drivers, Sutil is 11th with 28 points, while Paul di Resta in his rookie season, is 13th with 20 points. The team's best finish was at the 2011 Singapore GP, where both cars finished in the Top 10 to net 12 points; their highest points haul in a single race since the 2009 Belgian GP.
Indian GP prediction
The Indian GP will be Sahara Force India's first-ever home race and they'll be keen to do well in front of Indian fans. The team is among the five fastest teams on the grid having shown better pace than Mercedes and Renault cars in certain races. The long straights and flowing corners of the Buddh Circuit, should perfectly suit the VJM04.
