Congressional, ably piloted by jockey S Zervan, powered his way to a stylish victory in the Rajpipla Trophy, the feature event of yesterday’s seven-race card gone through at the Mahalaxmi racecourse.
The winner was trained by Bezan Chenoy who also saddled another winner in Sawgrass (G Santosh up) who won the Anmol Preet Plate as a 10-1 long shot. Chenoy thus emerged as star performer of the afternoon with this brace.

The Pesi Shroff-trained Solange was given a superb ride by jockey PS Chouhan to win the Moonlight Romance Double Stakes, a class III contest over the trip of mile. Chouhan cleverly took the top weighted animal on a start-to-finish mission, and made every post of the mile trip a winning one when he skipped away from Multiglory (P Trevor up), the only one of her five rivals who put up a fight.
The Indian Air Force Cup, another class III contest over six furlongs, saw Trevor Patel astride, Final Encounter, who had to be hard-ridden to assume command in final 75 meters, after acting fractious in the starting stalls, necessitating a veterinary check before being re-loaded.
