Horse racing: Mine Forever tipped to win Otters Trophy

In a creative move, Vivek Jain, marketing chief of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), has got some of the prominent sports clubs in the city to step in as sponsors for what looks like an extremely competitive ten-race card for Saturday's evening racing programme at Mahalaxmi.

Being the sole class I race, the Otters Club Trophy, despite only three runners being in the fray, chooses itself as feature event of the card.

Interestingly, all three runners—Mine Forever, Zander and Deep Diver—have run together in race# 72 of the current campaign, and though the first named had won that race, the advantage has been nearly nullified thanks to the change in handicap, and a close, three-way finish is not ruled out.

A lot will depend on the jockey skill though, and therefore, I give Trevor Patel ridden Mine Forever a thin edge.

In the supporting event of the day, the Willingdon Sports Club Trophy for maiden three-year-old horses, One Aim and Miss Arazan may be involved in a close contest, with Chilly Chilly, working well on the trial track, capable of putting up a bold show in debut.
