According to Dr. Ana C. Krieger and Dr. Gail Saltz, sex is beneficial for the body as it is a great form of exercise that enhances bonding with your partner, fights aging, reduces your stress and allows you to sleep better.
On the other hand they asserted that sexual problems might lead to stress, but healthy sex can alleviate stress.
Another recommendation was to carve out time to wind down for a few minutes before sleep, while there should be no work allowed in the bedroom, which is only for sleeping and sex.
They revealed that the secret to sleep is a combination of three main ingredients - timing, duration and quality, whereas it was disclosed that only a fraction of people could function optimally with six or less hours of sleep.
Some rules to be followed for sound sleep are turning off TVs and Smartphones before bedtime and during sleep, and avoiding light exposure, even from electronic devices.
Another suggestion was to create a cozy bedroom temperature preferably between 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit, and establish a night time routine and get up at the same time every day.
Dr. Saltz and Dr. Kreiger also asserted that one should consider relaxation training, better time management and problem solving, to manage stress in a better way.
The findings were presented at the 30th Annual Women’s Health Symposium hosted by NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical.
