Mohinder Pandove may have lost out in the race for the coveted secretary's post, but got an Indian Premier League's (IPL) Governing Council berth at the 82nd Annual General Meeting at the Cricket Centre on Monday.

But there's a story behind it as to how he managed to squeeze himself in when it was all set for former India captain Gundappa Vishwanath to walk into the panel.
"When all the committees were finalised, we realised that there's no trace of Pandoveu00a0-- who was an aspirant for the secretary's post for quite some timeu00a0-- in any of the committees. So we decided to include him in the Governing Council (GC) as one of the two cricketers. He has played more than 70 first-class matches," a top BCCI functionary revealed to MiD DAY a day after the AGM.u00a0
Earlier, the plan was to induct Vishwanath in the GC, in place of Mohinder Amarnath, who joined the selection panel from North Zone. But a miscalculation kept Pandove entirely out of the fray, which wasn't the intention of the board mandarins.
There are theories that Pandove wasn't preferred for the secretary's post due to his closeness to IS Bindra who is not known to be close to the current bigwigs. "At last-minute we had no option but to keep Vishy out for the time being," the official said.
