Chief Conservator of Forest and Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) and Field director Sunil Limaye said, “People should not panic not spotting a leopard. They are shy animals and usually run away from human presence.”
On Tuesday, the society’s CCTV camera captured a leopard entering and exiting their colony in the wee hours. The security guard spotted him.
Dos and don’ts
>> Give the leopard enough way to pass if you see it
>> Don’t let your pet or children unattended
>> Keep society well-lit, carry a stick and torch
>> Do not provoke it. It can attack in self defense.
>> If a leopard has come in your society, don’t gather around it. Call the Forest Department officials
>> Keep your society garbage-free
