Who said being a shopaholic isn't a good thing? At the Women Entrepreneurs eexhibition, you can play cheerleader to 74 by splurging on apparel, accessories and gifts

As the Women Entrepreneurs (WE) shopping extravaganza enters its 21st year, their upcoming exhibition will feature 75 start-ups from all over India. The range of products includes tunics, embroidered jackets, Italian gold-plated jewellery, readymade Rangolis, torans and perfumes for children.

The annual exhibition was conceptualised in 1990 by 25 members from the Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) Ladies' Wing. The idea was to empower women by providing business opportunities to showcase their creativity and sell products to a larger market.

The criteria for participation remains the same: the products have to be unique and not available at any retail outlet.

"We have a team of experts who screen the applications. This year, out of 500 applications we shortlisted just 75 women, who encompass the best of India," says Smita Dandekar, President of the IMC Ladies' Wing. While the bulk of the proceeds will go to NGOs, there will be five NGO stalls as well.

The highlight of this year's exhibtion is the food court which will offer a variety of snacks and a special lounge to unwind after some hectic shopping. Plus, there is a baggage drop-off area so that you can shop freely without lugging around extra baggage.
