The World Cup semi-final which India lost to Australia on Thursday was coach Duncan Fletcher’s last match with Mahendra Singh Dhoni & Co, it is learnt.
A senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official said Fletcher’s contract with the Indian team which was till the World Cup will not be renewed. “Fletcher is not seeking a renewal of his contract and the Board is also not offering him a fresh one. The process for the new coach will begin soon,” the official said.
BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, who was in Sydney for the semi-final, said there has been no talk about renewing the contract with Fletcher. “I’ve yet to speak to Fletcher on this (renewal of contract). The Board members will decide about his future,” Thakur said.
