Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a Class 10 student died on Wednesday of brain injury after a clash with a classmate at a private school here, police said.

Amir Siddiqui, a student of St. Joseph's Public School, died at a private hospital.

The incident occurred in the school during lunch hour on Tuesday but it came to light only after Siddiqui died.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Kamalasan Reddy said Siddiqui and another student Shariyal had a fight in the school ground.

The two rained blows on each other. Siddiqui fell unconscious after one of the blows hit his head.

After first aid at the school, Siddiqui (15) was taken to Kamineni Hospital, where doctors on Tuesday night performed a surgery to remove a clot in his brain. However, the boy did not recover and died on Wednesday morning.

The incident shocked Siddiqui's parents, who demanded immediate action against the student responsible for their son's death.

Police registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Police visited the hospital located in Abids and gathered information from the school management and teachers.

Police officer Reddy said they were analysing the footage from CCTV cameras installed in the school before taking further action.

However, police were not likely to take immediate action as the boy involved was a minor and the death appeared to be accidental.

Police were trying to find out what led to the fight between the two boys, who were from two different sections of the same class.

The shocking incident revived the memory of the death of a teenager in a fight between two boys in the old city of Hyderabad in May this year.
