I'm being framed, says Bhojpuri starlet

Absconding Bhojpuri actor Tulip Singh alias Poonam Singh has stated that a jeweller, in connivance with a powerful businessman, has registered a false case against her and her partner in Gujarat.

On the run: Tulip Singh is accused of duping the owner of KK Jewellers of gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 2.5 crore using dud cheques

In an exclusive interview to MiD DAY, Oshiwara resident Tulip, who is known as the Katrina of Bhojpuri films, stated that she wants to apply for anticipatory bail, but is terrified that the businessman might kill her.

According to the case registered by Gujarat police last month, Tulip and her live-in partner, Raman Nayyar, have been charged with duping the owner of KK Jewellers of gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 2.5 crore using dud cheques.

“The businessman along with the owner of KK Jeweller have made up a story and are trying to frame me in the case,” said Tulip. She also stated that the businessman, who was financing two of her movies, stopped funding the project as she had refused to give in to his demands.

“He [businessman] has had physical relations with me, and I have undergone abortion twice. Later, when he wanted other girls from our unit, I refused. So, he stopped funding the money and is now trying to frame me in a bogus case,” said Tulip. “He had also asked me to provide him with blank cheques from my company,” she added.

While Crime Branch has arrested Nayyar of Jalaram Productions, they are on the lookout for the starlet, and have visited the city twice.

Interrogation by cops have revealed that Nayyar, a producer, and Tulip, who has acted in several Bhojpuri films, including Dhamaal Kaila Raja, Kali, Ke Bani Dulha, and a Marathi film Tham Lakshmi Tham, live at Oshiwara in Andheri (West). Cases have been filed against both at Ellisbridge police station and with CID crime.u00a0
