I want to rid myself of using foul language

Dear Diana,
They say people are judged by the way they talk. If that's true then I've got a severe issue. Well, you see, I'm a very foul-mouthed person. My friends and colleagues don't seem to mind as they often laugh at my expletive-ridden conversations/jokes. I think it has become a part of my social personality now. But I'm not very proud of it. The other day, I even let out a swear word in front of my parents. I always thought it was under my control but I was mistaken. One of my friends even mentioned that I must be suffering from Tourette's syndrome!u00a0

Dear Aamir
Tourette's syndrome is a neurological disorder characterised by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalisations. If you think you suffer from such a syndrome you need medical help. Consult a doctor soon. But I am sure that have been using expletives in your conversation as initially you felt it was cool. It mattered to you as it helped you get noticed. May be some of your pals were also doing likewise. And now you are stuck with the lingo. You alone can help yourself. Cut down using the word, tell your family and friends to stop you when you are about to use it. Keep shut when you feel you are going to utter it. Indulge yourself when you think you have minimised the use of those words. Try and get as many reward points by not uttering the word. It will take time but it can be done. Best of luck.
