ICC World Cup: Gilchrist proud to 'emulate' Sangakkara's feat on golf course
Melbourne: Former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist has acknowledged wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara's record-breaking one-day international (ODI) cricket feats with a hilarious tweet.
On Wednesday, the Sri Lankan legend became the first batsman to record four consecutive hundreds in ODI cricket with a 124-run knock against Scotland.
The Aussie congratulated Sangakkara — albeit in a funny way. "I scored 4 100's in a row once...shame it was on the golf course! Congrats on 500+ WC record and runs, runs, runs #legend," he wrote on Twitter.
Sangakkara also became the first man to effect 500 ODI dismissals. He also passed Gilchrist's record of 52 World Cup dismissals. Sangakkara is now the most successful World Cup wicketkeeper with 54 dismissals.
