ICC World Cup: Team India opts for 48-hour rest

Melbourne: The Indian cricket team was not expected to hit the training ground yesterday, the day they arrived here from Adelaide after Sunday's remarkable win over Pakistan.

However, it is learnt that they will not train today as well for Sunday's game against South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Club.

The reason? The team wants to have a 48-hour break from any cricket to ensure they recover fully after the game.

The players followed the proceedings of the Indian Premier League auction in which Yuvraj Singh was bought for Rs 16 crore by Delhi Daredevils.

Yuvraj, in the opinion of many pundits, should have been in the World Cup squad. Another player who was a talking point among India's World Cup squad on their off day was Zaheer Khan, whom the Delhi Daredevils bought for Rs 4 crore.
