London: Eugenie Bouchard marked her historic run to the Wimbledon final on Thursday by fielding queries over Twitter marriage proposals and her liking for troubled Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.

Bouchard defeated Romania's Simona Halep in straight sets to become the first Canadian to reach the singles final of a Grand Slam tournament where she will face 2011 winner Petra Kvitova on Saturday.

Post-match questions
But as well as the standard fare of post-match tennis-related questions, the blonde 20-year-old was also prompted for a response to being deluged by "hundreds" of marriage proposals on Twitter.
"I won't check that too much, especially during a tournament. Good effort, though. There's always a chance, I guess, that I'll say yes over Twitter. So keep 'em coming."
Bieber's bad boy image
Bouchard also light-heartedly admitted to her disappointment that fellow Canadian, bad-boy pop star Bieber, whom she once described as a "dream date", would probably not be considered as Royal Box material should he turn up for the final.
"He's not? They really wouldn't allow him in the Royal Box if he came?," she asked. "I'm not associated with that at the moment. But, you know, if he cleans up his image... No? Someone is shaking their head no."
