Daughter of deceased BJP leader Gopinath Munde says she will definitely be part of the BJP-led state government post-election
Amidst the slogan-shouting by party workers — ‘Mahara-shtrala pahili mahila mukhyamantri milalich pahije’ (The state should get its first woman CM) — BJP MLA Pankaja Munde-Palwe said yesterday that she was not in the race for the CM’s post. Munde, however said she would like to see a woman CM.
“Once the BJP-led Mahayuti government is formed, I would definitively be a part of it. However, it would be too early to speculate who will be the next CM. Moreover, it is not the political pattern of the state to declare the CM candidate before the polls,” she said.
Munde accused the state government of diluting the laws and converting 24,500 hectares of agricultural land for residential use. “The land is located in the district itself and its conversion into a residential area was done on the proposal forwarded by the builders’ association in Baramati.
I hope the state revokes its decision,” she added. Commenting on the induction of former minister and NCP leader Babanrao Pachpute and Dr Vijay Kumar Gavit in the BJP. Pankaja said such political migrations are common during election time.
While Dr Gavit has charges of amassing disproportionate assets against him, Pachpute has been accused of being involved in the tribal development scam while he was the tribal affairs minister in 2012. “If the charges are proven in a court, the party will take the final decision on whether they will stay in the BJP,” she said.
