Hyderabad: Bangladesh played their first ever Test match against India in Dhaka in 2000. Later on, they showcased their skills, to an extent, against all Test-playing countries in overseas series except India. However, after 17 years, Mushfiqur Rahim's Bangladesh team will take on India on Indian soil at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium today.

"As a Test-playing nation, you always dream to play every Test match be it at home or abroad. Playing in India is a great occasion for us. The boys are really excited to play the No. 1 team in the world and it's a great opportunity for us to show some character and skill. Hopefully, we can catch up or match up to the No. 1 team," said Rahim on Test eve yesterday.
Bangladesh, who had beaten England in a home Test and fought well against New Zealand recently, have two fine spinners in the form of Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan. However, their skipper
underlined that it's a team effort that matters. "Cricket is not a game of one man or two men. It is a team game. When you are playing against the No. 1 team, you have to perform as a team. Not only Mehedi and Shakib, we have to be specific about what we are trying to do as a unit.
"Everyone knows how strong India is on home soil. Hopefully, we will come up with some good plans, execute them well, create some chances and take the game to the fifth day," he said.
